Training FAQ

Yes, you may register for training privately as an individual.

Yes, absolutely! However, please take note that after you installed an electric fence, you will require a COC specialist to sign the project off.

It will help if you have a basic understanding of electricity as well as computer knowledge, although not compulsory.

Unfortunately not, however, we can assist you in finding a suitable training centre who offers certified COC training.

Payments can be done by card or cash at Security Warehouse, or you are welcome to EFT the payment. However, payments must be made at least 3 days prior to your training date.

Please take note that the price will include a training manual, a pen to take notes with and lunch.

Security Warehouse’s Training Academy is not accredited, PSIRA or SASSETA Registered. While our courses focus on practical, brand-specific expertise rather than national accreditation, they are designed to give you the exact technical skills required to dominate the field.

Unfortunately no, however, we can offer assistance and guidance on how to register with PSIRA by doing an Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) with our certificate.

We will not be able to accommodate you in this way. Our courses are pre-scheduled and in most cases fully occupied thus leaving no space for “drop-in” situations. We, therefore, ask that you follow the booking process to ensure placement on your preferred training course to avoid disappointment.

70% is the compulsory pass rate in order for you to be certified for that particular training.

You can, however, rewrite your exam at another pre-arranged time at a charge of R250 – to be organised with your trainer in advance.

You are entitled to cancel your training with no penalty applicable, but it must be at least 1 day prior to your training starting.

Attendance & Penalty Policy

1. Once your booking has been paid and confirmed, and you cannot attend your scheduled session prior notice must be given at least 1 day in advance.

2. Attendance is strictly mandatory, except if prior notice of at least 1 day in advance have been give to advise a session will be missed. Failure to attend your training session without prior notice of at least 1 day in advance will result in a 20% penalty fee of the course rate being billed to your account.

We will only waive this 20% penalty fee under extreme, documented circumstances. To have the fee waived, you must provide official, written proof within 48 hours of the missed session for one of the following reasons:

* Medical Illness: A signed, valid medical certificate from a registered medical practitioner.

* Family Bereavement/Death: An official death certificate or funeral notice of an immediate family member.

* Severe Emergency: A verifiable police case number or accident report.

No other reasons will be accepted, and the 20% penalty fee will be applied immediately for any unexcused absences.

If you have any questions or need to discuss this beforehand, please contact the academy directly.

Any certificate issued more than three years ago will require a retake of the course due to the continuous change in technology, normal training prices will apply. If you managed to stay up to date with the technology, you may wish to only rewrite the exam at a charge of R250.
